Mazzoni’s Oyster Café
12003 Shelbyville Road
Louisville, KY

This is Mazzoni’s new address listing as of December 2007, telephone is not confirmed yet.

Thanks to Noriyuki of The Phyllyes for recommending this super find. Mazzoni’s Oyster Café has been around since 1884 creating excellent food for people with unique yet simple taste buds.

A friend and I got everything that Noriyuki and his band had ordered, starting with the Bronzed Tuna Salad, it is tuna glazed with sesame sauce, on a small bed of mixed greens and roma tomatoes, carrots and cheese croutons, it was satisfying to the max all for $7.50. – Note- all salads are served with garlic bread.

After the salad we attacked our platter meals; Jill had the Seafood Platter; clams, fish, oysters, and shrimp for $10.50. Along with onion rings – $2.50 and potato wedges – $1.75. (all platters came with biscuit, two sides and homemade slaw). Jill compliments- the seafood was tender and moist, boosting with flavour; potato wedges were good not too seasoned in her opinion, the onion rings were excellent.

I had as recommended the Pan Fried Oyster – $12.00 (can be ordered as a single for $8.75). The oysters very moist, tender, full of good flavour, as well as very filling. For the two sides of course I had the onion rings and potato wedges.

Another customer was having the Fish Tacos – $8.00 (single order – $4.75) with seasoned fries – $2.50 and the side salad – $2.50. The fish tacos are a new addition to Mazzoni’s menu and it looks like it might be there permanently. It is very crispy fish with cabbage, salsa and Mazzoni’s special tangy sauce. Customer Kevin says the fish is excellent, very moist big flakes of fish layer almost melts in your mouth; with the combination of the cabbage and their sauce it is like ultimate heaven.

Next time I visit I think I will order the Bacon Chicken Cheese Sandwich – $5.95. It’s hand breaded tenderloin topped with mayo, bacon and provolone. You can ask to have any sandwich grilled and you can make any sandwich into a basket with one side order.

For you pasta lover, all their pasta looked divine especially the Sun Dried Tomato and Garlic Pasta – $4.95

All pasta are served aldente with garlic bread; add chicken – $2.50, add shrimp – $2.50; add half salad – $2.50

Happy Eating!
